Scholars Research Symposium

The American Heart Association Scholars Program proudly celebrated its 10th anniversary at the 2026 Scholars Research Symposium in Atlanta, convening 65 emerging leaders from across the country pursuing careers in medicine, science and public health. The symposium brought science to life as undergraduate scholars showcased the culmination of 16 weeks of hands-on research through dynamic poster presentations spanning a wide range of health and science topics. More than a presentation opportunity, the experience is designed to strengthen critical research, scientific communication and professional skills—empowering scholars to translate complex ideas into meaningful conversations that can inspire innovation and improve lives.

In addition to research training, scholars also gained practical health education skills through Hands-Only CPR training and learning how to accurately measure blood pressure at home—equipping them to become stronger advocates for health within their families and communities. Lastly, scholars also participated in a resilience workshop, rounding out a holistic and memorable experience. Through mentorship, collaboration and experiential learning, the program is helping guide the next generation of researchers, healthcare leaders and changemakers.
